One of the latest trends in home construction are homes that are being built using all environmentally friendly materials. These materials are typically twice as expensive as traditional materials but those that decide to have a completely green home find the investment to be well worth it. One couple in Boulder, Colorado sold their big traditional home to build a house that was quite a bit smaller but was going to be a completely earth friendly house. They said giving up the space was worth being more environmental and being able to live a real green lifestyle. Every aspect was thought of like the heating and purification of rainwater by using solar power to heat it up. Hopefully once the economy gets better, people will think about using these earth friendly materials to build their new house.

Americans are also becoming more aware of what they eat and ways the food that they eat gets to the store that they buy it from. More and more customers are deciding topurchase their food locally which is good for the earth by saving the energy that was originally used to transport that food a far distance. Many farmers are also promoting their food to be more green by not using harmful chemicals or pesticides.
One final area a lot of Americans do not think of but it quite important is what your wishes are for when you die . Like many other things, cemeteries are also becoming green for burial. There are only 4 such places in the US but they follow the belief in returning your body to the earth in an organic state with no embalming fluid or steel casket materials.
