Keep Your Kids Moving

Public officials have stressed the importance of physical activity. Young bodies need to be used for more than just playing video games. There is no specific thing that any kid needs to do, but they must do something. Kids are not as healthy as they were in the past due to the weight problems and more kids are facing this problem than ever before. Society will have a lot of trouble in the future if the youngsters can not be convinced about the importance of physical activity on a daily basis.

Childhood obesity is a major problem that is facing our kids. Being overweight can lead to increased illnesses in children. Besides kids being ostracized because of the way that they look, kids also face complications from such diseases as diabetes that come from being overweight. Many of these issues can be reduced if kids are active, which does not mean that a kid has to do some six pack ab exercises every day, but it means that a kid needs to be outside playing something that will raise their heart rate some instead of sitting on a couch playing with some video games for a couple of hours a day. The NFL play 60 tells kids that they should spend one hour a day exercising and it will keep their body healthier. Budget problems at schools have forced cuts in sports programs so they are not as prevalent as they sued to be. The burden now falls more on the parents to give their children the chances to get up an get moving.

If a parent is unsure how to get their kids away from the videos games and to get them active then they can find help on the internet through support groups like the biggest loser forum that offers discussion groups where a parent can find the support of others in the same situation. There are other type of groups such as the local YMCA where they have many activities for kids to join in. Staying fit should not be a chore for a young person or they will not want to perform it often. If finding an organization that sponsors outdoor activities is not possible, then get outside as a family. When the weather is good outside, parents can take their children to the local playground for some fun activities. It doesn’t matter if you throw a ball around or go out bike riding, spending time together as a family is priceless.

Just as important as being active, children must eat correctly. Kids should avoid the candy and the food that is not healthy for them. Breakfast is the most important meal of the day and should not be missed. The meals should include foods from all of the major food groups and should have proper portion sizes. Fast food restaurants should not provide most of the cooking in a child’s diet.

Kids don’t need to diet to stay at a healthy weight, and they don’t need to learn how to lose weight fast, but they do need to learn that exercise and a proper diet is an important part of their life, just like taking a bath and brushing their teeth is important and it is something that must be a part of their life every day. By learning this at an early age, it will lead to good habits latter in their life. This job falls upon the adults in a child’s life to give them these lessons.
